From the early 80’s Overton has entertained foreign teams from all corners of Europe, including hosting a Canadian team on tour in the UK.

From 1991 the club decided to hold a bi-annual festival, aptly named ‘FestOval’ which grew to encompass all sections of the club. To ensure the occasion was a bit different, we have always looked to include European rugby teams. We have hosted some fantastic events with teams from Denmark, Holland, France, Belgium, Scotland, Siberia, Romania, Czech Republic and Germany.

Uniquely, all ages of the club are involved in this tournament – from local schools playing Tag Rugby and teams from U7 to U16 plus the senior sides.

The FestOval is not only a major fund-raising event for the club, it has also become a part of the local community calendar, drawing in hundreds of local people over a long weekend of non-stop rugby, live music, big BBQs and events. Touring teams bring friends and family to enjoy the local sights too.
